Tips for having a safe and fun Halloween

Halloween is less than a week away. This time of the year is a fun time for both kids and parents, but it is also a time that requires extra caution. Here at the farm, we were looking for some Halloween safety tips, and thought we would share a few. We came across these tips on About.com, here are a few:

• Have your child carry or wear something lit, such as a flashlight, glow bracelet or necklace.
• Adult should plan out the route in advance, this way there are no surprise obstacles during Trick or Treating.
• Your Trick or Treaters should walk, not run.
• Only Trick or Treat at houses that are lit.

This year's Halloween contest is in full swing! This year, we're looking for spooky commercials for Winder Farms Chocolate Milk. Full details and official rules can be found here.

• Contest deadline October 31st
• Videos must be uploaded to a YouTube account
• YouTube Video URL will be submitted via online entry form on the Winder Farms site
• Commercials should be between 30 and 60 seconds - no longer, please
• Make sure your actors feature Winder Farms Chocolate Milk in the commercial
• Most Importantly - Be creative and have fun!

Winder Farms Takes 2nd Place...Twice!

Recently at the World Dairy Expo, Winder Farms took second place in both the white milk category, as well as the Sports/Energy category. “Our milk products have been recognized as one of the best for years, and now we are especially proud to add our recently introduced Chocolate Milk Recovery to Winder Farms’ line of award-winning dairy products,” said Mike Dutton, chief executive officer of Winder Farms. “I would also like to congratulate our dedicated team for continuing to produce our world class products, they really deserve the credit.”

Our Summer contest has come to a close, and we've chosen our winner. Congratulations to Jodean Burrup for winning an iPad 2 from Winder Farms! It's been a few weeks since we launched any new products here at the Farm, but we think the wait was worth it! New this week are two delicious new cookie packs. Fresh baked daily, these new cookies are sure to be a hit with the whole family. You asked for it, and we delivered - Lemon Cookies are now available in a package all by themselves! In addition to the pack of Lemon Cookies, we are introducing a brand new cookie to the Winder Farms lineup. Our newest cookie is called Black Diamond - a delicious blend of dark chocolate cookie and white chocolate chunks! Great Breakfast Idea for Kids

Here's a great recipe we stumbled upon. With back to school right around the corner, making sure your kids start the day with a filling, nutritious meal is more important than ever. Try serving them breakfast tacos! Breakfast tacos are easy to make and are a great way to start the school year off right!

Ingredients

2 Flour Tortillas

1 Tablespoon(s) Salsa

2 Tablespoon(s) Shredded Cheddar cheese

1/2 Cup(s) Liquid egg substitute or 2 eggs

Directions

Top tortillas with salsa and cheese. Heat in the microwave until the cheese is melted, about 30 seconds.

Meanwhile, coat a small non-stick skillet with cooking spray. Heat over medium heat, add egg substitute and cook, stirring, until the eggs are cooked through, about 90 seconds. Divide the scrambled egg between the tacos.

New Alexia Potato Products!

It's been a while since we've checked in from the farm, probably because we've been busy bringing in lots of great new products! A new product that's quickly becoming a customer favorite are the new Alexia potatoes and fries. The lineup includes; sweet potato fries, classic crinkle cut fries, oven reds, and an oven red and vegetables mix. The sweet potato fries, in particular, seem to be a hot seller, have you tried them yet?
